'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Fairytale Is Over For Junior

It's been an emotional tournament for Forest striker Junior Agogo, but his African Cup of Nations dream ended in heartache tonight, as host nation Ghana lost 1-0 to Cameroon at the Ohene Djan Stadium.

The first half was a tense and nervy affair with Cameroon content on hitting long balls up the pitch in an effort to keep the home side at bay. Chances were few and far between and the sides went in level at the break.

The second half was an altogether much better game, with Cameroon starting the better, but the Black Stars soon took control and were beginning to look menacing themselves.

Just as it looked like the home side would break the deadlock, Cameroon hit Ghana with a sucker punch counter attack. From inside their own box, Cameroon broke fast and were straight on the attack. Samuel Eto'o slid the ball through for Alain NKong to hit the ball past Kingston in the Ghanaian goal.

Junior had a golden chance to level minutes from time when he headed over the bar from the edge of the 6 yard box. The game ended in drama when Cameroon player Bikey was sent off for deliberately pushing over a medic who was treating a Cameroon player, but the visitors were able to hold out for the win. It now means Agogo has to settle for a third place playoff game on Saturday between the losers of the Egypt v Ivory Coast game later tonight.
