ya..but do we know it was an sod signing?
Was strange how SoD said we had our "Full quota" of loan signings and then we got another in. Hutton doesn't strike me as an SoD personality either.
Whatever the case, at least he's not having to put "square pegs in round holes."
That's what I love and hate about forums people can use any snippet of previous comment to make a point sound valid whether its bullshit or not.
SOD also said we wouldn't be in for anymore players near the end of the transfer window and and then whalaa he landed Sharp!
SOD plays the game well.
As for is he a SOD signing well sorry but how many good things do the Al Hasawis have to do until you lot trust them???
First it was 'they haven't any money' then it was 'they're using our club to bring all the Kuwait players across' then it was 'SOD didn't want JJ' now its 'did SOD want Hutton!!!'
FFS start trusting these guys and drop the conspiracy theories and negative spins on everything.
Our Owners are the real deal and they are obviously working with SOD!
Hutton is an SOD signing and a good one, Lets give him a chance.
And just one last point, I've lost count of the number of posters on here judging Hutton based on comments from a load of comments on Villa Forums, What a joke.
Thank God/Allah SOD or the Hasawis don't run their clubs based on whingers and moaners on this site!
Before launching a personal attack on what I have posted, please do get your facts straight.
Not once have I implied I am dubious of the al-Hasawi family and I can't recall seeing anybody else slagging them off on here. The al-Hasawi family have been a breath of fresh air since arriving at the City Ground and long may it continue.
When people post comments, they tend to do so either to make a point or clarify circumstances. When I made my post, I was implying that Hutton didn't strike me as the typical Sean O'Driscoll signing, it was an open ended comment which allowed others to possibly explain why. Reading through comments on other forums, it doesn't sound as though he is, and I think I know enough about SoD to understand his 'typical' signing (A good head, hard worker, short in height for some reason etc. ) What do I care if the al-Hasawi family are making the signings? As long as there are 11 people on the field in the right positions and a bit of depth, I couldn't care who brings who in. I'm enjoying these new times as much as anybody else and I am part of the "Pleased at the Hutton signing and let's allow him time before criticising him" section of fans.
I don't think there are many hidden agendas or conspiracy theories in what people say on here and I certainly haven't posted anything with a hidden agenda to attack the al-Hasawi family. I refute your claims and would suggest you drop the issue and work on your people skills. All you had to do was ask what I meant by my post and I'd have happily clarified it further, but I feel you crossed the line when you suggested I was some sort of conspiracy theorist with a hidden agenda and vendetta against the al-Hasawi family.

By the way there were plenty of postings on here doubting the Hasawis for starters.

Totally disagree with the above alongside other negative sentiment towards a former £9m signing with Prem and International experience not being given a chance by some fans of a Championship club that is building from scratch.
JUST TO REMIND YOU LOT BUT WE ARE STILL BUILDING A SQUAD IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP AND CANT AS YET AFFORD TO BUY BERTRAND, WALKER, COLE, JOHNSON ETC ETC.
I'll say it again, What you're really saying is you don't trust SOD, The Hasawis, The Forest Coaching Staff, The Forest Scouts, The Scottish FA and management!
You're also saying you have more inside knowledge into the cost and terms of the loan deal and also an insight into the mind of Hutton.
By the way, This is the same SOD that with the Boards blessing that has shipped out Miller, McGoldrick, Derbyshire, Greening and Tudgay to name a few whilst also bringing in Geddy, Cox, Sharp, Lansbury, Jenas, Collins, Ayala, Hutchinson, Gillet to name a few.
Bout time you and others showed faith in the Manager and Owners regards signings!
PS. Well put Sangria!
Where has anyone who's been negative about this signing said anything about signing players such as Bertrand? I haven't seen any and I certainly wouldn't do. If we were to sign a Villa full back on loan I'd have been delighted with either Nathan Baker or Eric Lihaj.
Can I ask a question, when we signed, say, Billy Sharp or Danny Collins, were you delighted with the signing because of A ) the type of footballer he is, B ) his ability and C ) his recent record? If you were, i.e. judging him on his recent past, why on earth should somone not be negative about a player who A ) is the type of footballer club shouldn't be associated with (imo of course ) and B ) has an utterly dire recent record?
I'm generally not negative at all, I'm absolutely delighted at everything Sean O'Driscoll and the Al-Hasawi family have done for Forest and they have my complete trust that long-term they will be utterly brilliant for this football club, I'm absolutely over the moon at the moment at supporting this club, and I've been delighted with 14 of the 15 transfers they've made so far. Both when they signed, and as they've begun to play for us.
But this one, sorry I just can't. I try to look for positives, I really do, but I just don't see anything from the recent past to be positive about. I've only ever been negative about the Forest signing of one player ever before, and that was Ishamel Miller who did nothing at all to prove my initial instincts wrong.
I'd absolutely love to be proven wrong with Hutton and be made eat my words, I really would, but I just can't see it at all.

| Lot of getting panties in a knot and making sweeping judgements on what some think others are saying...seems some just love trouble for sake of it. From a loan signing to a conspiracy of undermining SOD, the owners and even the Scottish FA is amazing paranoic hot air!
End of the day this is a player whom has played at most senior level, has been sought after by good managers but who has lost his way under McCleish and then Lambert both a fair judge of a player. SOD, as I said earlier likes a challenge and has form with p!ayers like Sharp and Oster. If he weaves his magic then it will be to the benefit of all, if not then we will have lost little and the likes of Moloney will have had to raise their game to oust someone like Hutton.
Its a shrewd move, if it works no doubt we have an option....only games will tell how good Hutton is and can be.

Sanity prevails , if it doesn't work out he'll fook off in january , if it goes well i presume we'll look at extending the deal or possibly try and sort out a permanent move .
Where is the problem ?
| |
| | |
| There is no problem another impressive signing be him to your personal taste or not you cannot question the ambition
As for Hutton just like Jenas if on top of his form a player who is more than capable of holding his own in the EPL.
Of course his career has come off the rails it seems to me there is a total lack of understanding of the basic concept that for us to attract a player of this calibre he is hardly going to be on form otherwise he'd be a regular and worth £4m+
More quality work in the transfer market you can't complain

Surely it's refreshing to every Forest supporter to know that if we have a problem and its a recognised situation that needs looking at urgently that we now have a manager that can go to the owners and say "We are short in this department or we need someone in quickly because of this - that or the other" knowing the owners will trust the manager and give him the go-ahead to go out and fix the problem ASAP.
For all those who have short memories can I remind you of the dark days of such managers like Clueless Colin Calderwood who was not able to bring loans in let alone signing players in January when we was going to the dogs and in free-fall to the 3rd. division.
Also let me remind you of our ex-Chairman that didn’t support Billy Davies when we was in a fantastic position (2 years running) to push on and get automatic promotion.
I seem to remember Perch having to play in six different positions before Christmas one season because we was so short on numbers - I really hope that gone are the days when we talked about nothing else than ‘square pegs and round holes’ etc.
We are getting close to where we couldn't ever imagined that we would have 2 players to cover every position and still there are moaning fookers out there moaning just for the sake of it - all I can say to some is - If you want a good moan, why don’t p!ss off down the A52 and support a team that hasn't got a pot to p!ss in - with players that I have never heard of and who are in a similar position to where we were 5 years ago.
This club is on a roller coaster right now and we should support everything Nottingham Forest and enjoy it and if you can’t then just think back over the last 12 years then come back to me and tell me how much you enjoyed them.

I know it's a different argument, but I do feel sorry for poor old Colin, why is it when he was going for promotion from League One and didn't strengthen the squad it was his own failure, but when Billy was going for promotion from the Championship and he didn't strengthen it was down to the owners?
Considering it was the same owner in both circumstances and considering the things we now know about the previous regime, isn't it time we cut Calderwood a break? because he clearly suffered in the same way form the same owner with the same acquisition panel, he just didn't slag off his employer in public.
On the Hutton issue, anyone wrighting him off before he's kicked a ball for Forest is foolish, he may turn out a bad signing (don't think he will personally ) but lets give him a chance in a Forest shirt first.

Same could be said about Adelene Gueidioura though , wasnt exactly pulling up trees (pardon the pun ) at Wolves but came in and was the player of the last half of the season.
When Hutton was at Spurs i rated him highly , a real attacking hard tackling full back, thats their job criteria to be honest, well, my type of full back anyway so we'll have to suck it and see , im not gonna listen to a bunch of up Villa fans , sometimes a player just works at a club and gels with the style of football they play , got my fingers crossed for Hutton , andf hes a Forest Player now so gets my full support.

I do understand and I know where you are coming from when it comes to Calderwood - I have always led from the front when criticising our past Chairman for his failures in recruiting managers and his failure to back them.
I'm sure Colin Calderwood is a nice guy and wouldn't give any Chairman an ounce of trouble but I still think he was out of his depth here and probably will be anywhere else as a manager.
I appreciate he didn't have a lot to work with in his time here but on many occasions you knew he hadn't got any answers when we was up against it on match days - his decision making was non-existent and only made changes when it was too late or when he was pressurised from the crowd and that is why I feel his indecisiveness will never see him make it as a good to decent manager – a coach or number two are possibly his limitations.
In a nut shell though - he was only one of a string of bad choices that Mr Doughty and the club made.

| I think you're both right. CC was out of his depth but was also hung out to dry.
Today it's a whole new ball game?, thank goodness.

It's simple- Colin never moaned about it and in interviews gave every impression that he didn't think we needed anyone.
I remember when McLeary was our only January signing of 2008, despite us desperately needing a boost. The interviewer asked him if MCLeary was going to be the only player we signed that window, and Colin laughed and said that he would be the only player from Bromley. It was clear from his tone that the would be no one else.
In fairness, the vast majority of abuse did fall on martyr and doughty just as it did under billy, the difference being that colin had the best side in the division under performing and struggling to compete, while billy had an average side playing hove themselves and finishing third in the league above

| He was very very poor in the first half but much better in the 2nd. We are going to have to bare with him for a while we are now at the end of November and its his first club game of the season. I think he will turn out to be a great signing for us if we can keep him for the season at least. | |

| In fairness Marsh he hasn't played much football so can be excused if he struggled to get into the game early on.
Hutton is a good signing IMO.

a very good debut...I dont agree that he had a very bad first half, that Soko is tricky player and I ahte to imagine how worst would have been with Moloney or Halford there...the more games he play the better he will get...his movement off the ball shows that he played at a higher level....Soko switched side in the second half, that shows you that Hutton was doing a good job on him, if he was having an easy life ,he would have stayed there...
| | |
| Considering he's had what 1 training session with this side I thought he did well. He's a very good rb, to good for this level I'd say and a cracking addition! | |
