'While Warburton seemed to make no attempt to consider what we would do post Dowell....'

A bit unfair, as Warburton was only given one window - plus this was the window in which Dowell was signed!

I reckon we could get Rhodes for £5m in the summer. Not sure about him myself, never seen him play well but can’t argue with his overall record.

Karanka will be very pragmatic and it will take a bit of time but we will be solid and organised with set patterns of play. Think villa and the job they did on us a few games back.

Looking forward to seeing some winning football soon.

So where is Osborn, the best midfielder in the championship, going to play now? WAtson gueddy bridcutt Vaughn collback, Lolly dowell and Tomlin.

Hope he works on being an effective left wing back/left back where I think with decent coaching he would do well.

Was a Dowell replacement being groomed? The obvious one was Clough and he never gave him opportunities. No obvious replacement was mooted in his signings list for January, and we knew a lot of them

Osborn has never been an effective left back.

Although if his only competition is Desperate Danny....

I hope our new midfielders allow our forward players to push right up and press high. I am concerned with a lack of pace but for too long our forward players have wasted so much energy running the wrong way

Despite a plethora of much needed signings, we are still 3 players short of being effective and challenging the top 6.
Left back, a leader at centre half and a decent striker.
Shocking indictment of how poor we were.

Smiths inexperience really came to the fore recently. His kicking and general distribution is very poor and this has impacted greatly on his game. He isn’t vocal enough, and although his handling is generally sound, he has needed a rest for a while now. Good number 2 now though with the experience he has gained.

I think I was in denial over how many signings Forest actually needed for a top 6 assault. Forest have struggled against top six sides all season...which showed how off the pace they were. Out of the current top 6 Forest have only won against Wolves.

The squad needed a proper clean out of barnacle players from the last 8 managers and a complete rebuild of the team/squad under the vision of the current manager.

Karanka has made 8 signings (along the spine of the side and in-depth re: the engine room of the midfield) with a LB seemingly on his way. And Forest failed in their bid for two CHs and even a striker in Rhodes?

That would make 12 signings attempted in total.

Ergo, Forest still need to bring in another CH, a LB and a Striker as you say.

Forest's midfield was that weak that it needed a complete overhaul as Karanka has made 3 DCM/CM signings and a couple of wingers.

Strength in depth now. And in the Watson signing, finally a Battle General who can shout, Captain the side and put the foot in.

It augers well for next season. In the meantime, they need to start getting points on the board.

SA.

In short, if Karanka gets the LB in soon just need Forest to sign Dawson and Rhodes in the Summer.

That would be a good start for a top 6 place next season.

If we manage those two signings...next season we will be or Newcastle when they romped the league twice or Sheff Wednesday ...with a alot of experienced players that dont `click` and end up a burden on the wage bill and stiffle any young player progression...
Hope we take the Newcastle route...
