Nottingham Forest vs. Bradford City

The City Ground

5 August 2006

3.00pm

The Big Kick Off

The Reds kick off the 2006/7 campaign when they welcome Bradford City to the City Ground.

Vital Quotes:

Nottingham Forest Team News:

Forest look set to give new keeper Paul Smith the shirt ahead of Rune Pederson for the seasons' opener. The good news for manager Colin Calderwood, is that injury worries to Kris Commons, John Curtis and Danny Cullip are not as bad as feared. All three are expected to be named in the squad.

Player to watch: Nathan Tyson

Forest will be hoping that Tyson and his pace will make life difficult for League 1 defenders this season. Much is expected of the young striker and his form will be crucial if the Reds are to reach promotion.

Bradford City Team News:

Bradford have had a stuttering pre season with only one win in four against Conference side Morecambe. This was followed by defeats to Shrewsbury, Boston Utd and Manchester City. They have been busy in the transfer market this week and have added no fewer than five new signings, including City Ground outcast Alan Rogers who signed on a week to week contract.

Player to watch: Dean Windass

This old warhorse may be 37 years of age, but he still managed to bag 20 goals last season. Love him or hate him the Forest defence will need to be on their toes.

Match Facts & Stats

Forest played the Bantams on the final day of last season and came away with a 1-1 draw. The sides have met a total of 42 times seeing the Reds notch up 20 League and Cup wins compared to City's 10. 12 games have ended goaless.

Ref Watch:

Andy Penn, West Midlands. Was in charge of the 1-1 draw against Bristol City last year. Has a reputation for being one of the more sensible one's.

Next Fixtures:

Blackpool away.
