Forest v Fulham; A Vital Preview

Nottingham Forest

The City Ground

Tuesday, 26th September, 2017

Slavisa Jokanovic's Fulham are Tuesday's City Ground Visitors, as Mark Warburton's Forest aim to get back on track.

Vital Quotes:

Mark Warburton remained bullish in Monday`s pre-match press conference:

"This is an important week, where we face two formidable challenges. It is important for us to try and dominate the football and get the results we are looking for.

Fulham are a good footballing team, they like to move the ball, are dangerous in possession, have players who can hurt you but it should suit us. They are brave, they take risks and we know what we face, but we are very similar and whilst we we`re frustrated after Saturday, we have to move on quickly.

We have to recognise the demands of this league and if you get the fine margins wrong, you will be punished and we have been punished in recent games for our mistakes. Talk is cheap; actions speak louder than words and we have to be better for the experience. It is a young squad, they are gelling and boys will make mistakes undoubtedly but this league is relentless and you can't sit back for too long.'

Nottingham Forest Team News:

David Vaughan may have returned to full training, but he is unlikely to feature before the international break. Danny Fox could return to the squad, but Jamie Ward, Chris Cohen and Matty Cash remain sidelined.

After a disappointing first half, Mark Warburton is likely to make several changes to the starting 11, with Ben Osborn almost certain to return, whilst Michael Mancienne, Muzzy Carayol and Eric Lichaj will all be pushing for a starting place.

Player to watch: Jordan Smith

The 22 year old academy graduate has played every minute of Forest's Championship campaign, but will be disappointed with just 2 clean sheets so far.

The young goalkeeper is a great prospect and clearly still learning but he will hope to his bit and secure a better result (or 2) this week.

Fulham Team News:

Floyd Ayite limped off with a hamstring injury at the weekend, so he is unlikely to be involved and joins, Tom Cairney, Rafa Soares and Lucas Piazon on the treatment table.

Player to watch: Kevin McDonald

The 28 year old Scottish midfielder was allegedly a target for Mark Warburton as he sought to add strength and quality to his midfield. On that basis, he is most likely to open his goal scoring account for the season with a worldie.

Match Facts & Stats

Forest have lost 4 of the their last 5 Championship fixtures, including both of their last 2 home games. The reds have 12 points from 9 games (w4, d0, l5) scoring 12 with 15 conceded.

Fulham have 11 points from 9 games(w2, d5, l2) scoring 9, but conceding 8.

Ref Watch:

Scott Duncan has been appointed for Tuesday`s Championship fixture, his 11th game in charge this season. The previous 10 matches have seen 24 yellows and 2 red cards. Last season he oversaw 38 games yielding 113 yellows and 10 red cards.

Mr Duncan will be assisted by Daniel Robathan and Akil Howson, with Simon Barrow as Fourth Official.

Match Prediction:

The Bookies have the Cottagers as marginal favourites with Forest struggling to secure a positive result after a promising start.

Forest have yet to draw a game this season, but Fulham have drawn 5, so perhaps 1-1 seems a fair bet?

Next Fixtures:

Sheffield United are next up, with a 3pm City Ground KO on Saturday, 30th September.
