Forest v QPR; A Vital Preview

Nottingham Forest
vs.
Queens Park Rangers

The City Ground

Saturday, 4th November, 2017.

3-00pm

Mark Warburton's Forest welcome Ian Holloway`s QPR Trentside for this afternoon`s Championship fixture.

Vital Quotes:

Mark Warburton, called for 'perspective` in Thursday`s pre match press conference:

'Tuesday was particularly frustrating, after the performance at Hull - because, we started very slowly for some reason. We have to look at it, particularly at the performance indicators, to see what we can do better and to see if it could show something behind the slow starts.

We saw the reaction in the second half and whilst we were on top we found ourselves 3-0 down through a combination of sloppy play and not being able to take our chances.

We appreciate that everyone is human, they will have bad days at the office, so you can't be too high when you win and too low when you lose, nothing is achieved by that.

QPR come here on the back of two very good wins against two sides flying high in the top six. They will be confident and Ian Holloway will have them ready and organised and they have several good individuals in the team - but, everyone here will be keen to go into the international break off the back of a good performance.'

Nottingham Forest Team News:

Danny Fox, Jack Hobbs and Chris Cohen are confirmed casualties, but Armand Traore is expected to return to the starting line up as the only recognised fit left back.

After such a poor performance in the midweek defeat at Reading further changes are expected, with Daryl Murphy, Matt Mills, Muzzy Carayol and Jamie Ward all hoping for a starting berth.

Player to watch: Armand Traore

The 28 year old Senagalese left back spent almost 5 years at Loftus Road, although it`s fair to say his last season wasn`t the happiest of times.

Armand joined Forest on a free, from QPR, but the first season was truncated by injury and so far, he has made 12 appearances this term.

He has yet to score a goal for Forest, so how nice would it be see him get one over his former employers and break his duck?

Queens Park Rangers Team News:

Ian Holloway will be unable to call upon the services of Nedum Onuoha (hamstring), James Perch and Grant Hall (both knee) - although, Joel Lynch is available after serving his suspension.

After consecutive wins, it`s unlikely that Ollie will make too many changes!

Player to watch: Jamie Mackie

Conor Washington and Idrissa Sylla are both danger men for QPR, with 4 goals each so far - however, it so often happens that a former employee returns to hurt Forest. Joel Lynch lifts always his game and certainly represents a threat from set pieces, but Jamie Mackie is the type of industrious winger that will cause us problems.

The 32 year old joined Forest from QPR and return their on a free transfer in June 2015. He has 3 goals in 15 appearances so far this season.

Match Facts & Stats

October has seen Forest win 2 and lose 2, with some real Jekyll & Hyde performances but still unable to defend and also without a draw this season.

Mark Warburton`s reds are 13th in the table, with 21 points from 15 games (w7, d0, L8), scoring 21, but conceding 26.

QPR are 12th , with an equal points tally of 21 from 15 games, but they have just 1 defeat in their last 6 games and no defeats in October.

The Hoops have beaten Wolves and Sheffield United via back to back home wins, with 3 draws in their last 3 away fixtures. Their league record reads (w5, d6, l4) with 19 scored & 18 conceded.

Ref Watch:

Tim Robinson has been appointed as today`s Referee, just his 19th game in charge this term, the previous 18 games have yielded 50 yellows and 8 red cards. Last season he officiated 44 games, showing 185 yellows and 9 red cards

Mr Robinson will be ably assisted by Andrew Fox and Shaun Hodson, with Mark Dwyer Martin as Fourth Official.

Match Prediction:

QPR have never won at the City Ground and boss, Ian Holloway has never lost.

David Prutton has this one down as a draw, and the Bookies have similar odds for all 3 outcomes.

One thing that`s unlikely is a clean sheet, given the defensive frailties shown by Forest - so, a point wouldn`t be a bad result, but if Warburton`s men harbour any top 6 ambitions, a home win is crucial…. personally, I think Prutton is on the money.

Next Fixtures:

Yet another International break follows this match, with the reds next in action on Saturday, 18th November (KO 3-00 pm) with an away day at St Andrews, taking on Steve Cotterill`s Birmingham.
